4th of July

Yes I know that the 4th of July was a week ago but I prepare my blog in advance when I have the time. Traditionally on the 4th of July I take a short walk to watch the largest holiday parade in our region which is followed by a nice little car show. Well this July 4 it rained. At the beginning of the parade it was coming done in monsoon proportions. Luckily that didn't last too long and the majority of the parade saw, at the most, sprinkles.

So while the car show was canceled there were a few nice rides that took part in the parade, such as the original VW Beetle seen at the top of this post and that beautiful Ford Mustang just above this. In addition there were some very cool modes of transportation being utilized by the soggy folks in the parade. There were vans and rescue vehicles, Jeeps with inflatables sticking out of the top, a recreation of the original delivery wagon used by the Kroger Company, a float with the Olympic rings made out of swim noodles, a guy wearing a suit advertising a pizza chain, a bicycle, a float actually playing Angry Birds, a rescue vehicle used to promote a political candidate, a very cool old police car, a pirate float, wagons, a very cool Olds 442,an El Camino, a gator, a woman walking on stilts, a woman riding a unicycle, and, of course, a motorized turkey. Happy belated 4th of July.
