Mustangs Were Part Of the Monmouth Stampede

The Wheels On Monmouth event brought in a stampede of nearly 500 amazing classic and collector vehicles. Obviously, this meant that a good selection of Ford Mustangs would be among those on display. And so there were from various generations.

Porsche Was Among the Wheels On Monmouth

One of the special sections set up at the Wheels On Monmouth event was designated for cars bearing the Porsche banner. Not all of the Porsches that wheeled into Newport for this show went there but many others did. That allowed folks to not only see the iconic 911 models but also this 944 as well as others in the Porsche line.

Bel Airs Were On Monmouth

It isn't uncommon to see a good selection of Chevy Bel Airs at a large open car show and the Wheels On Monmouth event was no different. There were plenty of tri-fives lining the main street of Newport including an all-original, unrestored 1957. 

Cars From the 30s and 40s Were On Monmouth

The Wheels On Monmouth show brought out close to 500 amazing vehicles. Among them was quite a few dating from the 1930s and 1940s. One of those featured cars was a 1936 Packard hearse with a body by famed coach house Henney Motors. The hearse features a 468 cubic inch big block Chevrolet engine with a 671 supercharger because, let's face it, this hearse had to carry a lot of dead weight. Also on display was a complete, numbers matching, totally unrestored Buick 8 that is not only the epitome of the Art Deco look but sports only 40,000 original miles. The current owner saw it sitting in a field, turned around and bought it on the spot.

Vettes On Monmouth

 The newly re-named Wheels On Monmouth show expanded on its traditional forerunner, Rides On Monmouth, by adding a few special zones for certain cars to congregate and be enjoyed. One such area was reserved for Chevy Corvettes. While there were a bunch of Vettes that were part of the regular line up along Monmouth St. in Newport, many more were in this special area giving viewers the chance to see many different generations of this American classic.

Exotics On Monmouth

 

While Rides On Monmouth had been a long time staple of our car show season, filling the main street of Newport with hundreds of fabulous cars, this year the newly branded Wheels On Monmouth took the idea of the traditional car show, such as Rides, and expanded it. In addition to the regular show there were also a number of other lots set aside for specialty exhibits of such cars as Corvette and Porsche as well as one referred to as Exotics. And was this last one filled with some exotic super cars. Among them were a couple of Dodge Vipers, some Ferrarris, Lamborghinis, a new BMW, and even a McLaren or two.

Wheels On Monmouth

Regular followers of this blog, and there are one or two out there, may be familiar with a show I annually cover called Rides On Monmouth. Last year the event didn't occur because of the pandemic and this year it wasn't scheduled either. But many people in the small river city of Newport felt that there was such a need for an event to bring the town together that a near impromptu show was developed. Wheels On Monmouth was put together to help the businesses in the community and it turned out to be the equal to, if not bigger, than many of the Rides On Monmouth shows.

With close to 500 vehicles lining the city's main street and several side lots, Wheels On Monmouth could only be deemed a huge success. Among the cars on display was a rarely seen Oldsmobile F-85, a Chevy Monte Carlo, a Ford Galaxie 500, a Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk, an Impala, and an El Camino. 

There Was A Mustang Stampede At the Pumpkin Run Nationals

 There was a stampede at the Clermont County Fair Grounds as part of the 45th Annual Pumpkin Run Nationals. With nearly 2500 vehicles showing up it's little wonder that a herd of Ford Mustangs rode into the show. 

Bel Air Showed At the Pumpkin Run

 Among the nearly 2500 cars that rolled into the Clermont County Fair Grounds for the 45th Annual Pumpkin Run Nationals were a fair number of Chevy Bel Air models. Here are some that were on the grounds for this show.
