Pre-War Gems At the 44th Annual Pumpkin Run Nationals

Every one of the over 2500 cars that were on display at this year's 44th Annual Pumpkin Run Nationals had to be from 1974 or earlier. This always makes for an amazing collection of vehicles. But in many cases there were some cars that were much, much older. For example, here is a beautiful Ford Cabriolet, a 1937 Chevy, a pair of 1940 Fords, a Packard 110, a Plymouth sedan, and a 1936 Chevy Super Deluxe.

Chevelles At the 44th Annual Pumpkin Run Nationals

There were a lot of cars in Bow Tie Country at the 44th Annual Pumpkin Run Nationals. Though named for the Chevy logo, this part of the Clermont County Fair Grounds represents all of General Motors. In posting some of these fantastic cars I thought I'd stick with the actual Bow Tie brand and publish some of the many, many fabulous Chevelles that were on display.

Fords At the Pumpkin Run

Each year the Pumpkin Run Nationals bring out one of the largest collections classic and collector cars in the region. This year over 2500 fine vehicles were on display at the Clermont County Fairgrounds, allowing the sponsor organization, the Fastiques Car Club to earn a lot of money for charity.

The club does an amazing job or organizing all of these vehicles. In fact, what they call Ford Country, was literally packed with excellent examples of 1974 and prior cars from the Blue Oval. Included there was a post war Super Deluxe, a 1957 Ford Crown Victoria, a war era sedan, a 1972 Maverick, a 1964 Thunderbird, a newly redesigned 1966 Fairlane, and a 1967 Fairlane XL.

44th Annual Pumpkin Run Nationals

For the 44th time the Fastiques Car and Customs Club sponsored one of the largest, most successful car gatherings in the region. The Pumpkin Run Nationals was held under brilliant blue skies and attracted over 2500 fantastic automobiles, all from 1974 or before. The club and the event began at the same time with the goal of raising money for charity, primarily for the Shriner's Children's Hospital.

Despite there being so many fabulous classic and collector vehicles on display, the members of the Fastiques do an amazing job of organizing the cars. Today we'll be looking at some of the beautiful Chrysler products that were on display in the area the show calls MoPar Country.

Among the amazing cars on display was a pair of 1950s Chryslers, a Charger, a 1957 Plymouth, a 1970 Road Runner, a 1965 Barracuda, a Fury sporting impressive fins, and a 1966 Dodge.

Another Show New to Us

The 6th Annual UPAP Car Show was one that Josh and I had not attended in the past. That is the main reason we chose it in hopes of seeing some new and different automobiles. While we did see some cars we hadn't seen before, there just weren't very many of them. It always saddens me to see a low turn out for any car show because they're usually raising money for a worthy cause, in this case it was Carthage Civic League. But while there weren't many cars, the ones that showed looked pretty good. Among those in attendance was a 1936 Oldsmobile, a first year Chevy Bel Air, a well worn Saab 93, a 1965 Chevy Nova, a highly decorated 1967 Chevy pick up, an Olds Custom Cruiser station wagon, a race ready Ford Mustang, a Saab convertible, and a brand new Porsche.

Sixth Annual UPAP Car Show

The 6th Annual UPAP Car Show was held at the U Pull & Pay under unseasonably hot, partly cloudy skies. Perhaps it was the extreme heat that kept people away but only a few brave souls came out to show off their cars. Among them was a beautiful Pontiac Trans Am, a pair of fantastic Ford Mustangs, a Mazda Miata, a Firebird Trans Am, a gorgeous Galaxie 500 convertible, an actual Cadillac Hearse, and a very clean C3 Chevy Corvette.

Epic '60s Cars

You can't go to an open car show or any vintage automobile event without getting an eyeful of cars from the 1960s. So what were the best from that decade? Here's a list I found on line that lists out some of the most epic rides from that era. Let me know if you agree with this list or if they forgot one of your favorites. The Most Popular Car the Year You Were Born

Here's one of those fun on line finds. This is a list of the cars that were the most popular in each year from 1918. Well, obviously this list doesn't rely on actual sales (as you'll see if you delve into it). Still, it's fun to see a lot of these cars and to find the one that was "tops" the year you were born. For me, it was the rather pricey Continental Mark II. Expensive, yes, but I was worth it.

Let me know the car from the year you were born and if you like it or not. Feel free to leave a comment or drop me a line at turnerbudds@yahoo.com.

More From the Clermont Sportsman Cruise In

This year, for a number of reasons, the Clermont Sportsman's Club stopped doing what had become a rather large car show and instead just hosted a cruise in. Even though this was non-competitive and more relaxed, a number of cool cars showed up including a 1949 Chevy, a Ford coup convertible, a slightly modified 1951 Mercury (the headers on this car are actually from a Mercury outboard motor boat engine), a Dodge Charger, a 1939 Buick 8 Special, a Ford Fairlane, a 1970 Mustang Mach 1, and an International Harvester pick up truck.
