Historic Automobiles in a Historic Place

The Glendale Gathering may not be one of the largest car events in the region, but it does always attract some pretty amazing historic cars. One reason for this is that the people running this show which raises money for the Glendale Fire Department are all associated with the Cincinnati Concours d'Elegance. Another may be the actual setting. Taking place in the Glendale Historic District which has been designated a National Historic Landmark. This year, among the vehicles on hand, was a beautiful 1967 Chevrolet Camaro Rally Sport, a Cadillac hearse, a Chevy S 10 Tahoe pickup truck, a 1957 Chevy Bel Air Nomad station wagon, a 1956 Plymouth Fury, a 1967 Pontiac GTO, and a chopped Ford street rod.

Fire Fighters Benefit From the Glendale Gathering

The annual Glendale Gathering Car Show raises money for the village's fire department and the various charities that they support. The show is held in the Village Square, which is part of the Glendale Historic District, an area that has been designated as a National Historic Landmark. This is fitting because a lot of historic vehicles show up for this event. This year, around 70 cars and trucks took part including an amazing Shelby GT 500, a 1968 Ford F 100 pickup truck, a Ford model TT truck, a custom Chevrolet Impala Super Sport, a 1968 Plymouth Barracuda 340 S, a 1957 Chevy Bel Air, and an Oldsmobile Fiesta station wagon.

Foreign Cars at the Glendale Gathering

One of the many special aspects of the annual Glendale Gathering car show is the number of foreign imports that take part. While most car events may have a handful of foreign entries, the Gathering has what could only be called a large contingent. This year's event was no different as over two dozen rolled into the historic city to take part. Among them was a Mercedes-Benz 300TD Turbo Diesel station wagon, a very rare 1967 Datsun SLR 311 convertible, a 2005 Morgan Aero 8, a 2024 Lotus Seven, a 1959 Triumph TR3A, a 1976 Triumph TR6, a 1965 Honda S600, and a 1972 Volkswagen Super Beetle.

Corvettes Have Their Place at the Glendale Gathering

The Glendale Gathering always attracts a nice selection of Chevrolet Corvettes. While the Vette is now in its eighth generation (C8) these famous sports cars that were introduced in 1953, have spanned a vast area of design. Many of the Corvettes that attended this year's Glendale Gathering were from the mid to late generations but no matter the year, they are all grouped together on a street just off of the village's main square. Here are just some of the Vettes that were on display at this year's event.

The Glendale Gathering

The Glendale Gathering is always a favorite car event as it brings together a diverse collection of classic, collector and current automobiles. Put on to raise money for the village's fire fighters, the show is organized by people associated with the Cincinnati Concours d'Elegance and they use their connections to attract some fantastic automobiles. Among this year's attendees was a 1949 Mercury Eight, a 1955 Pontiac Chieftain, a concours quality 1968 Shelby GT 350, a 1955 Cadillac Series 62, a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air station wagon, a 1957 Chevy 3100 pickup truck, and a Ford F100 Custom pickup truck.

Wrapping Up the Father's Day Show

The 22nd Annual Father's Day Show held at Winton Woods First Church of God had a very small turnout this year. With great weather and no other major shows nearby there wasn't an obvious reason but only about 20 vehicles turned out for it. Among them was a Chevrolet Corvette, a Pontiac Grand Prix, a 2015 Plymouth PT Cruiser, a Dodge Charger, and a Chevy Chevelle.

Light Turnout for Father's Day Show

The annual Father's Day car show at Winton Woods First Church of God is generally fairly small compared to other similar events. Their parking lot can only hold a certain number of cars and trucks. This year, despite fabulous weather, fewer than 20 vehicles took part. There is no real obvious reason for this, but it does seem to be something of a trend where the smaller events are seeing shrinking numbers. Still, there were some nice cars to see including a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Rally Sport, a 21st century Chevy Camaro Super Sport, a 1990 C4 Chevy Corvette, a seventh generation C7 Vette, a C5 Corvette, and another 21st century Camaro.

Twenty-second Father's Day Car Show

The Winton Woods First Church of God recently held their 22nd Father's Day Car Show. Nearly flawless weather greeted a surprisingly small collection of about 20 vehicles, a turnout smaller than the typical attendance at this event. Among the vehicles on hand was a Chevrolet Monte Carlo, a Chevy Corvette, a 1969 Plymouth Satellite, a 1966 Dodge Dart convertible, a 1932 Ford recreation of the hot rod from the movie American Graffiti, and a 1959 Chevy El Camino.
