Customs and Rods Were On Hand For the Pumpkin Run

The Pumpkin Run Nationals is an annual event sponsored by the Fastiques Rod and Custom Car Club. While the 47th edition drew around 2500 cars and trucks of various makes and models, there were quite a few customs, hot rods, street rods and other various modified vehicles on hand such as this classic Ford. Here are just some that were at the Clermont County Fair Grounds that day.

The Pumpkin Run Saw Plenty of Cars From Chevrolet

Following World War II Chevrolet became the biggest selling car company in the United States. With the 47th Pumpkin Run Nationals only accepting entries of vehicles made in 1974 and before, it's little wonder that there were so many Chevy cars on hand. Among them was a beautiful Malibu convertible, a Nova Super Sport, an El Camino,  a Chevelle, a Nova, a 1959 Impala, a 1947 Stylemaster, and a 1939 coupe.

Corvette Took Part In the Pumpkin Run Nationals

The Chevrolet Corvette is one of the most popular American automobiles, especially when you think of the old car hobby. Now in its eighth generation, Chevy has been turning out the Vette since 1953. But since the 47th Pumpkin Run Nationals limited entries to vehicles from 1974 and older, only the first few years of the third generation, or C3 models, could join the C1 and C2 Vettes on the field of the Clermont County Fair Grounds. Still, that didn't limit the numbers. Here are just some of the Corvettes that were on hand for the show.

Trucks Worked Their Way Into the Pumpkin Run Nationals

For a long time trucks were somewhat shunned by the old car community. For some reason they didn't hold the pizazz of many of the old classic cars. But for the past several years more and more old trucks are showing up at events and the 47th Pumpkin Run Nationals was no exception. Among the working vehicles on display was a 1942 Dodge van, a Jeep J10 pick up, a 1967 Chevy, a GMC, a pair of pre-war Chevys, a 1973 Chevy, and a 1949 Chevy.

Some Really Old Timers Were On Hand For the Pumpkin Run

It is pretty amazing that a show that restricts entrants to only those built from 1974 and before can bring in 2500 cars and trucks. That's exactly what happened at the 47th Pumpkin Run Nationals put on by the Fastiques Rod and Custom Car Club and held at the Clermont County Fair Grounds. While there weren't official numbers there were a large collection of cars from the very early pre-War era. Among those really old timers was a 1936 Ford convertible, a 1935 Ford convertible, a 1930 Ford Deluxe Sedan, a 1933 Dodge Deluxe, a modified 1939 Dodge pick up, a 1934 Plymouth four door sedan, and a 1933 Chevy two door sedan.

Pontiac Added To the Pumpkin Run

There were a lot of people who were upset when General Motors officially shut down Pontiac at the end of October, 2010. Up until I was in high school our family had Pontiacs so I felt a little twang of regret as well. Perhaps that's one reason why I always appreciate a nice showing of old Pontiac automobiles at any car event. The 47th Pumpkin Run Nationals brought out a large number of Pontiacs. Among them was a Trans Am,  a 1966 Le Mans, a Grand Am, another Trans Am, a Firebird, a Kingswood station wagon, and a Tempest.

Ford Had A Good Showing At the Pumpkin Run Nationals

As could be expected when an event draws about 2500 vehicles, there were plenty of Fords on hand at the 47th Pumpkin Run Nationals. Among them was a 1976 Galaxie, a Fairlane, a 1965 Custom, a 1959 Skyliner, a 1974 Gran Torino, and a couple of post war Custom models.
