Perfect Weather For A Car Show

The Fifth Annual Monroe Township Rumble In the Park was blessed with near perfect weather. While most of the summer was wrought with either extreme heat or rain, the latter causing many shows early in the season to be postponed, Mother Nature smiled down on Monroe Park. The temperatures were more mid-fall like than late summer and the mostly sunny skies brought out around 70 great vehicles. Among them was something you don't often see at an old car event, a 1984 Chevy Chevette. The owner, in a touch of whimsy, had a note on the car stating, "I survived." Not many did. Also on the lawn were a pair of highly customized Bel Airs, a 1961 Studebaker Hawk (belonging to a friend of mine) which has graced the blog numerous times, a Chevelle SS 396, a 1934 Dodge 5 window coupe, a 1989 Ford Crown Victoria, and a restomod 1964 Chevy C-10 pick up truck.

The Fifth Annual Monroe Township Rumble In the Park was held recently, fittingly enough, in Monroe Park. The event drew around 70 vehicles including a 1969 Ford F-250 pick up truck, a 1959 Lincoln Capri, a Jeep Wrangler Limited, a 1950 Chevy 3100 pick up, a 1969 Dodge Challenger, a 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo, a restomod Chevy Standard, and a custom 1971 Vega.

Wrapping Up the Restorations

 The Antique Auto Shop in Hebron, a restoration facility, recently had an open house and allowed people to wander through and see some of the vehicles they were in the process of restoring. Today is the last of the posts from that shop. Under work was a 1968 Jaguar E Type. This is the car that Enzo Ferrari called the most beautiful car in the world. Also seeing work was a very rare 1954 Kaiser Frasier (complete with doors that slid open rather than being hinged), a first generation Chevy Corvette, a 1967 Oldsmobile 442, a 1928 Ford Model A, and a Mercury Cougar Eliminator. More Restoration Works In Progress

Yesterday I started posting some of the cars I got to see being restored at the open house for The Antique Auto Shop in Hebron. Today I'll continue with a 1969 Ford Thunderbird, a 1969 Chevy Camaro, a 1965 Mustang, a 1955 Packard Caribbean, and a 1956 T-Bird.

The Antique Auto Shop

We often gaze in awe at fully restored old cars as though they were works of art. What we don't often see is the work and effort that went into making the vehicle like new again. Recently The Antique Auto Shop, a restoration facility in Hebron, held an open house and I got the chance to see some of their works in progress For the next few days I'll be posting the rides they were working on. Among them was a 1946 Chevy pick up truck, a 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1951 Buick Special, a 1956 Ford Sunliner, a 1969 Pontiac LaMans, and a 1964 Galaxie 500.

The Antique Auto Shop Attracted Mustangs of All Ages

 

The open house at The Antique Auto Shop brought in around 70 automobiles, including more Ford Mustangs than any other make and model. What was curious is how many newer Mustangs were among the group. But there were still ponies from many different eras, such as this 1973 Mach 1. There was an earlier post of some of the Mustangs that were on hand. Here are the rest.
