Ford Came Downtown to Throw Down

 

The Downtown Throwdown saw over 100 cars roll into Batavia on a beautiful, clear, early autumn day. Included in that number were a few Fords. Among them was a 1957 Fairlane, a 1959 Fairlane convertible, a 1951 Custom, a 1963 Thunderbird, a 1965 Galaxie 500, a 1956 Thunderbird, a newer version T-Bird, and a 1967 Fairlane.

Customs Came To Throw Down

 

The Downtown Throwdown in Batavia brought out over 100 cars and trucks on a beautiful autumn day. Among them were plenty of recognized makes and models but there was something else. There were a good number of customs also on hand. They ranged from basic restomods to full blown recreations and everything in between. Here they are.

Some Classics Rolled Into the Downtown Throwdown

 

Batavia's Downtown Throwdown saw about 100 vehicles show up on a beautiful autumn day to support the Southwest Ohio VFW Memorial Team. Among them was a 1917 Ford Model T, a 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger, a 1969 Dodge Coronet 500, a 1974 Dodge Challenger, a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air, a Plymouth Barracuda, a 1972 Chevy Monte Carlo, and a stunning Packard convertible. 

Ponies Came to Throw Down

 

Introduced in the summer of 1964 as a 1965 model, the Ford Mustang has become the most successful car associated with the "pony car" style. Technically, though, it was beaten to the market by the Plymouth Barracuda which came out 16 days before the 'Stang. Still, the Mustang has been a mainstay in the Ford lineup over the years. There were plenty of Mustangs on hand for the Downtown Throwdown in Batavia held to support the Southwest Ohio VFW Memorial Team. Here are some of those ponies that were on hand.

Camaro Came To the Downtown Throwdown

 

Introduced in 1968 as Chevrolet's dive into the pony car market, the Camaro was described by one marketing executive as "a vicious creature that eats mustangs." It never truly ate the Ford Mustang but for decades it has been an extremely popular muscle and sports car. There was a large turnout of Camaro owners at the Downtown Throwdown held in Batavia in early autumn. Here are just some of them.

The Downtown Throwdown

 

The annual Downtown Throwdown was held on a beautiful early autumn day with the main street of Batavia lined with over 100 cars and trucks. The event is held each year to raise funding for the Southwest Ohio VFW Memorial Team. This not for profit organization helps to maintain the final resting places of veterans in the region. This worthy cause and the beautiful weather brought out the likes of a 1924 Ford Model TT, a Chevrolet C10 pick up truck, a 1955 Chevy Bel Air, a Mercury Marauder, my friend's 1963 Studebaker Avanti, a Chevy Corvair (the USA's first popular rear engine car), a 1968 Pontiac GTO, and a 1961 Studebaker Hawk.

  

Wrapping Up Rumble In the Park

 

The 7th Annual Rumble In the Park in Bethel designed to help raise funds in support of the area's first responders managed to draw about 45 cars and trucks despite cool temperatures and a sky that was often drizzling on everyone. Today is the last post from this show and includes a custom Chevrolet Bel Air station wagon, a Chevy Scotsdale pick up truck, an old Chevy C10 pick up, a Willys Jeep pick up truck, a 1956 Ford Thunderbird, a C3 Chevy Corvette, a 1954 Ford Customline, and a Dodge Challenger.
