Modern Cars Rolled To the Blue Line Car Show

 It used to be that I wouldn't post photos of modern vehicles that were at car shows I attended. Then a friend who helped organize a show pointed out that those cars are there helping raise money for the charity just like all of the older rides. So for the 2nd Blue Line Car Show, supporting the Fraternal Order of Police Queen City Auxiliary Nine, here are the 21st century automobiles that were on hand.

Perfect Weather For a Car Show

Typically in our area as the autumn creeps in the temperatures begin to descend and there is a bit of a nip in the air. But the weather for the 2nd Annual Blue Line Car Show was more like late spring than mid-autumn. Under brilliant blue skies with temperatures hovering about 15-20 degrees above normal, 45 cars and trucks rolled onto the Oakley Crossroads Church lot to help benefit the Fraternal Order of Police Queen City Auxiliary Nine. Among the cars on display was a stunning Chevy Chevette, a C3 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, two 1955 Chevy Bel Airs, a first generation Ford Thunderbird, a Chevy Impala, a first generation Vette, a fourth generation Corvette, and a 1981 Jeep CJ7.

The Second Annual Blue Line Car Show

 The 2nd Annual Blue Line Car Show was held in the lot of Crossroads Church in Oakley and despite it being an absolutely perfect autumn day, there was sadly a low turnout of only about 45 vehicles. The event raised money for the Fraternal Order of Police Queen City Auxiliary Nine and, among those cars that did turn up, there were some gems. Among them was a 1961 Studebaker Hawk, a 1997 BMW Z3, a Volkswagen Karmann Ghia, a 1964 Imperial Crown Coupe, a Morgan Plus 8, a Chevrolet Corvette, a Ford Mustang, and a 1941 Dodge truck.

Wrapping Up the Pumpkin Run For Now

With over 2600 cars and trucks at the 48th Annual Pumpkin Run Nationals, it's going to take some time to post all of the photos from that event. Still, there are a couple of other shows that occurred before the season ended and I need to get to them. So today is the last of the pictures from this event but be sure more will follow as I work back around. Today we have a 1952 Crosley station wagon, a Pontiac Series 28 Deluxe, a GMC Jimmy, a Datsun 260Z, a Crosley coupe, highly modified 1958 Studebaker Golden Hawk, and a well worn Studebaker sedan from the 1930s.

Bel Air Made A Statement At the Pumpkin Run

 

When you name an automobile after one of the most posh and wealthiest neighborhoods of Los Angeles, you are obviously trying to make a statement. That's what Chevrolet did with their full size Bel Air sedans. Beginning in 1950 as a two door hard top, it is the second generation, those 1955 through 1957 models, the so-called Tri Five cars, that are most often seen at old car events. That was no different at the 48th Annual Pumpkin Run Nationals where there was a nice selection of Bel Airs among the over 2600 cars and trucks that rolled into the Cleremont County Fair Grounds for the event. The Pumpkin Run Nationals Saw Plenty of Corvettes

This first generation or C1 Chevy Corvette is shrouded in shadow caused by the morning sun on the second of three days of the 48th Annual Pumpkin Run Nationals. Now in its eighth generation, the Vette has become one of the most iconic sports cars in the world. This year's Pumpkin Run saw over 2600 cars and trucks roll into the Cleremont County Fair Grounds for this fundraising event whose primary charity is the Shriner's Children's Hospital. Considering that all of the cars had to be from 1974 or before, it's easy to see why there were a lot of great first, second and early third generation Corvettes on hand.
