The Volkswagen Beetle was one of the most amazing cars ever designed. It was absolutely simple to care for and literally, a screwdriver and a couple of wrenches could take the whole thing apart. Perhaps that is why people started using the durable frame and engine to turn this light weight gem into different types of cars. Probably the most famous variation was the Dune Buggy, designed to ride over sand dunes. After my brother got hit in our Beetle we re-built it into a Baja Buggy. We had heavy duty shocks and mudder tires and that thing was a blast to take off road. Here are some of the Dune Buggies and Baja Buggies that were on display at this year's VW Porsche Reunion.
