The First Annual Bill Brewer Memorial Car Show was held to raise funds to support the family of the sheriff's detective who lost his life in the line of duty. Organized by a friend of the family, the show featured a special award presented by Detective Brewer's seven-year-old son for his favorite car. The car in question turned out to be that of my dear friend Jamie Schworer who, regular followers of this blog will recognize. Her 1964 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud III is the actual car used in the film
Cannonball Run as well as the mini-series
Bluegrass and a host of commercials and other shows. (Sorry for the blatant plug but this is such a beautiful and historic car. If you ever get a chance to meet Jamie at an event be sure to ask her about Cyndi Lauper. Trust me, it's worth it.)
Also in the field was a 1970 Ford Galxie 500, a 1973 Chevy Corvette, a 1966 Chevelle, a customized Mustang, an MGB, and a 1982 Datsun 280 ZX.
