While the Ford Mustang didn't technically invent the concept of the Pony car (that honor technically belongs to the Plymouth Barracuda that was released a whopping two weeks before the Mustang's debut), it is the symbol or the style and the reason for the pony name. Sporting a long hood and a short aft, the Mustang was small, light and quick. And a blast to drive. That's why so many people bought them.
The 'Stang was pretty much a product of the Ford parts bins. Relying heavily on the Falcon, Ford was able to make this sporty car affordable. With so many sold it's little wonder you see a lot of them at car shows. There were plenty on hand at the 6th Cruisin' To A Cure For ALS show in Lawrenceburg. Here are a few.
