Circumstances Bring Us Back To Lawrenceburg

This has been a difficult year for the old car hobby in our area. Many shows that have been strong in the past have not been held this year and others were just too difficult to attend. There are three reasons for this. First is the fallout from the Covid pandemic that has seen a number of shows cancelled and not return. This includes our traditional kick off show in Sharonville and the always huge show in Newport along with numerous smaller shows.

The second reason has been the weather. We have had one of the hottest and wettest summers in our history. In fact, August was the third wettest on record, just missing being second by several tenths of an inch. The month's rainfall was more than twice the normal average. Obviously shows are going to be cancelled or postponed. For the purposes of the blog I try to hit up one show each weekend but with rain outs that has become impossible.

The third reason, for me at least, is the soaring cost of gasoline. Living on the east side of the city I would regularly travel to shows well to the north, east and even south but with the higher gas prices I tried to be a bit more responsible and only go to shows that were closer to home or that I knew were going to bring in a large number and good selection of automobiles.

Normally with show I will make a week's worth of posts and if there are more photos I will save those for when the season ends and I need pictures to keep the post going. That's why the really large shows l
ike the Sixth Annual Cruisin' To A Cure For ALS in Lawrenceburg show is so great. Drawing over 1000 cars and trucks and raising over $40,000 it allows me plenty of opportunity to go back and make tons of posts. So with the lack of shows I'm heading back to Lawrenceburg early this year. Hopefully it is only for a week or two before new shows are available.

No matter what happens with the weather I will eventually post all of the pictures from this show. For this post we have a Shelby Cobra kit car, a 1964 Chevy Impala, an Oldsmobile, a 1967 Ford Galaxie 500, a pair of Novas, and a third generation Impala.
