When over 100 vehicles roll in for an open collector car event it's a pretty good bet that there will be a few Ford Mustangs on hand. Since 1964 the Mustang has been an iconic American automobile, setting sales records upon its introduction and even giving the style of car with a long hood and a short rear end its nickname, pony car. Though it first came out in 1964 the cars were officially 1965 models and those first releases are lovingly called 1964 1/2 model year cars. Technically not the first pony car introduced (Plymouth Barracuda just barely beat it to market), the Mustang is now in it's seventh generation and is still going strong. With so many still on the road its little wonder that the Park and Ride For Heroes event held at AJ Jolley Park in Alexandria would have a few preening on the lawn. Here are some of them.
