Bel Air At the All GM Show

Following the end of World War II, major car manufacturers scrambled to put out new cars for a society that was gaining in prosperity. Most were quick re-vamps of car models from before the war until new designs could be made. At General Motors' entry level division, Chevrolet, this was very true as they rolled affordable cars off of their various lines. In 1950, with minor changes, Chevy introduced their full size entry called the Bel Air. Named after the affluent neighborhood in Los Angeles, the Bel Air basically started as a trim for its first generation, In 1955, with the introduction of the second generation, the Bel Air came to symbolize America's growing car culture. That second generation was so popular that many people have rescued and restored the so called "Tri-5" models. There were quite a few on hand for the 3rd 20th Century All GM Show at the headquarters of Wyler Automotive. Here are some.
