One of the most highly charged classes at the Cincinnati Concours d'Elegance is always the Racing class. Filled with cars that have sped various tracks in various division all over, this class always garners a great deal of attention. This year's 47th concours held in Ault Park was no different. It featured one of only seven Argo JM-16 racers ever built. This original condition 1984 won its class at the 1985 24 Hours of Daytona as well as Road America GTP Lights.
This 1954 Kurtis 500 C not only qualified for the 1954 race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway's 500 mile event but managed to finish fifth. It has a famed 270 cubic inch inline four cylinder Offenhauser engine. Offenhauser built engines have won 27 Indy 500 races.
It is rare that a car that has been raced its whole life is still standing. But this 1967 Plymouth Belvedere II R023 is just such an animal. Only 55 of these were ever built. It has a 426 cubic inch HEMI V-8 that punches out 425 horse power.This 1972 BMW 2002 GT-1 not only won the International Motor Sports Association championship in 1973 but then turned around and repeated it in 1975. It has a 1990 cc inline four cylinder engine that generates 205 horse power and reportedly has a red line of 7300 rpm.
This 2004 Dodge Viper Competition Coupe is one of only 125 competition racers the company built. With an 8.3 liter V-10 that cranks out 520 horse power, this car can sprint from zero to 60 in a mere 3.1 seconds.
