When Chevrolet introduced the Corvette in 1953 it was designed to compete against the small sports cars that were beginning to flood the US market from Europe. Soldiers returning from World War II had fallen in love with the many small sporty cars on the European roads and to to thwart these imports, Chevy built a six cylinder fiberglass bodied two seater. There were immediate problems that got ironed out in the second generation, including the introduction of the small block V8 that has kept these cars so popular over the decades. Here are some of the Vettes that were on display at this past year's Pumpkin Run Nationals.
