A Show To Help Citizens Learn About Law Enforcement

In 2005 the Green Township Police established what they called the Citizen's Academy which was designed show the township's citizens some of the ins and outs of law enforcement. The 11 week program gives people both classroom and hands-on instruction in a number of law enforcement areas and also includes field trips to area law enforcement facilities.

To help support this effort the township holds the Green Township Police Citizen's Academy Car Show. This year's event was a smashing success with well over 100 vehicles packing the Diamond Oaks educational center parking lot. Among the cars on hand was a brilliant Ferrari 512 BB. The aptly dubbed Berlinetta Boxer replaced the Daytona and became the first Ferrari badged car to sport a mid mounted V-12 engine (yes, the 308 that was originally released as a Dino and later re-branded as a Ferrari had a mid mounted engine but that was only a V-8).

Also on display was a 1957 Volkswagen Beetle, a 1970 Oldsmobile 442, a Ford Fairlane 500, a slick AMC AMX, a work in progress Chevy Monte Carlo, and a highly customized 1989 Dodge Raider that sports a 5.2 liter engine that literally turned just about every head when it rolled onto the lot.
