A Show That Raised Money For Two Lions

The Ninth Annual Route 42 Car Show was held recently to help raise money primarily for the Lebanon and the Waynesville Lions Clubs. With in excess of 130 cars rolling on an extremely hot and humid day the show was an unquestionable success. Among those vehicles in attendance was a unique Volkswagen Thing. Officially known as the Type 181, it was built for the German military it was released for civilian use under a number of names such as the Kurierwagen (courier car) in Germany, the Trekker in the UK, the Safari in Mexico, the Pesccacia in Italy, and the Thing in the USA. Other vehicles on hand included a Chevy Corvair, an Oldsmobile Cutlass convertible, a Lincoln Continental convertible, a Pontiac Trans Am, and others.
