AMC Took Up the Fight Against ALS

In May. 1954, the merger between the Nash-Kelvinator Corporation and the Hudson Motor Car Company formed the American Motors Corporation. The merger was an attempt to stave off having to shut the doors of both companies and allowed them to streamline manufacturing and to enhance their ability to come out with upgraded and new automobiles. It worked, sort of. AMC couldn't stand up to the Big Three automakers of Detroit as Chrysler, Ford and General Motors had much more money as well as larger sales reach. Still, AMC came up with some innovative, though not always successful, cars and it's a shame there aren't more at old car events these days. But the 7th Annual Cruisin' For A Cure For ALS show in Lawrenceberg saw a nice collection of AMC vehicles on display. Among them was a 1968 AMX, a 1972 AMX, a Jeep, a Jeepster Commando, a Gremlin, a 1975 CJ5, and a third AMX.
