Wrapping Up the Ronnie Cobb Memorial Car Show

Today will be the last posts from the 7th Ronnie Cobb Memorial Car Show. The show, which returned after a two year hiatus due to the global Covid pandemic, brought out a collection of very cool cars, including this first generation, not quite stock, Oldsmobile 88. When it was released in 1949 it was an instant success on the NASCAR circuit, winning six of nine races that first year. Things only got better as in 1950 it took the checkered flag in 10 of 19 races and two years later a whopping 20 wins. The 88 went through 10 generations until it ceased production in 1999.

Also on display was a new version Ford Thunderbird convertible, and a Chevy Nova Super Sport with the original 427 Turbo Jet engine.
