Wrapping Up MainStrasse

There used to be a very popular show at MainStrasse Village in Covington but unfortunately it fell victim, like too many others, of the Covid pandemic and then some construction in the area. Since I ran out of photos from last season's shows, mainly because of all the rain outs we had, I went back and decided to share photos from the MainStrasse show from a decade ago. Today I'm wrapping up those posts and will be heading to the first show of the season in a little while. For this post we have a C2 Chevy Corvette, an AMC Ambassador, a 1964 Ford Galaxie, a 1956 Fairlane, an Edsel Bermuda station wagon, a 1957 Bel Air, a Ford Coupe, a first generation Thunderbird, and a Chrysler New York Special. I always enjoy seeing what you think of these shows and the cars in them. Feel free to leave a comment (no ads, please) or drop me an email at turnerbudds@yahoo.com.

A Few More From MainStrasse

I, along with a lot of other folks, was sad when the annual car show at Covington's MainStrasse Village didn't return after the Covid pandemic and construction in the city's area. It was always a fun show that regularly drew over 150 amazing vehicles. I've been posting from this show as I wait for the new season to begin. So here are some from a decade ago. They include a Ford based chopped hot rod, a 1989 Pontiac Trans Am, an Oldsmobile Cutlass, a GTO in The Judge trim, a 1970 Chevy Chevelle, a 1968 Chevelle, a 1951 Crosley, a 1967 Chevy II, and a Mercury Comet.

A Lot Of Great Cars Came To Covington

Over the years the annual car show at MainStrasse Village in Covington saw a lot of amazing cars. When there are between 150 and 200 cars at each event that is going to be inevitable. Unfortunately, like several events in the region, MainStrasse fell victim to the Covid pandemic and is no longer being held despite its popularity. Since I had run out of pictures from last season's events I have been posting photos from this dearly missed event. Among the cars on display from a decade ago was a MG TD, a MG Midget, a Ford Model A pick up truck, a Lotus Europa, an AMC The Machine, a 1972 Chevy Monte Carlo, a Mercury Eight, and a Cobra reproduction.

Imports Invaded Covington

The now defunct car show at Covington's MainStrasse Village would regularly draw close to 200 vehicles. A victim of the Covid pandemic, this show was wildly popular and always saw an eclectic group of automobiles. At one of the shows held a decade ago there were a large number of foreign imports invading Covington. Among the cars that showed up here a decade ago was a beautiful Triumph TR 3, a Austin Healey 3000, a TR 6, an Austin Healey Sprite, an Alpha Romeo, an Austin Healey 3000 MkIII, a Triumph Stag, and another 3000 MkIII.

MainStrasse Village Car Show

Prior to the Covid pandemic the annual car show at MainStrasse Village in Covington was one of the more popular events in this region. Since I ran out of photos from last season's car events and the shows haven't started for this year I've gone back and am posting some photos from the MainStrasse show of a decade ago. Among the cars on display for that show was a Pontiac GTO, a Malibu trimmed Chevelle (yes, the Malibu started as a trim before it got its own line), a 1962 Impala, a Camaro, a Plymouth Marauder, a first generation Ford Mustang, another Chevelle, and a 1929 Chevy coup.

Reliving MainStrasse

Having run out of photos from this past season I've dipped into my archives to show pictures from a show that no longer exists but is sorely missed. The show at MainStrasse Village in Covington was always one of the more popular regional events, drawing well in excess of 100 cars each year and filling the tree lined street. Among the cars at this event was a beautiful Volkswagen Karmann Ghia, a Ford based street rod, a Model T, a MGB, a Chevy Impala, a 1972 Nova, a heavily modified Model A, and another Nova.
