Bel Airs Went To Lawrenceburg

 


Naming a car after a wealthy neighborhood of a major U.S. city automatically sends a message to the public. In 1950 when Chevrolet introduced their new full sized two door car, the Bel Air, not as their top of the line halo auto, but as a family car a little further down the line, it seemed a bit of a contradiction. In 1953, though, the Bel Air did become the top model in the Chevy lineup. The Bel Air ran until 1981 through eight generations but it is the second generation, the so called Tri-5 models, running from 1955 through 1957, that are most well known at old car events. That held true at the 9th Cruisin' To A Cure For ALS show in Lawrenceburg. Here are some of the Bel Air models that were on hand for the show.
