When the Porsche 914 finally ran its course in 1976 the company needed a new "entry" level car aimed primarily toward the American market. Enter the 924, a break from the traditional Porsche. This became the first actual road going Porsche with the engine in the front. Add to that the fact that the four cylinder power plant was - gasp - water cooled and many of the brand's fans were taken aback by this 2+2 coupe. Still the car had a near decade long run only to be replaced by the 944. By then the general public was accepting a front engine Porsche and the 944 became the company's most successful car until the release of the Boxster. The Porsche/VW Family Reunion saw a number of these two models on display. Here are some of them.
