928 Came to the Reunion

By the early 1970s Porsche had made the decision to replace their iconic 911. They began to do so with a revolutionary design change: moving the flat six cylinder engine from the rear of the car and giving the new model a V8 water cooled power plant mounted in the front. In 1978 they introduced the 928. Despite this being an absolutely brilliant grand touring (GT) car with a perfect 50-50 weight distribution, Porsche enthusiasts shunned it. They wanted to keep the 911 and while the 928 did well with sales, particularly in America, it didn't convince Porsche to stop making it's bell cow automobile. The 928 lasted until 1995 when it was phased out. A number of 928 models were on hand for the Porsche/VW Family Reunion. Here are a few of them.
