All My Friends Know the Low Rider

OK, let's cue the song:  Low Rider. Following the end of World War II Los Angeles saw a huge jump in car culture. Customs and hot rods dotted the streets and so, too, was something rather new, the low rider. Just as the name implies young men, mainly Latinos, took to lowering their cars on their suspension to ride as close to the street as possible. Then the idea was to cruise the streets low and slow. In 1959, to combat a new law enacted by the city, mechanic Ron Aguirre figured out a way to install hydraulics on cars so they could be raised and lowered. The low rider as we still know it today, was born. The 6th Annual Cruisin' For A Cure For ALS show in Lawrenceburg had a nice turnout of low riders. Here are some that were on display.
