Imagine taking a light weight British sports car that was designed to run fine on a 2.3 liter four cylinder engine and instead, dropping in first a 260 cubic inch (4.3L) and then a 289 (4.7L, the same as in the first generation Mustang) eight cylinder engine. You can imagine how quickly that car could go. That's exactly what happened with the Sunbeam Tiger. Famed speed demon Carroll Shelby was one of the designs behind this experiment in shear, raw power. These cars are fairly rare but one was on display at the Rollin' On the River car show. Others on the lawn were a Mercury, a Chevy Bel Air station wagon, a Ford Thunderbird, and a few Fords that sported the early Flathead V8.
