Introduced for the 1964 model year, the Chevelle was Chevrolet's answer to the Ford Fairlane. The Chevelle became one of Chevy's most popular automobiles as it ran through three generations through the 1977 model year. It was designed to be a mid-sized family car. That all changed when, going against parent company General Motors' unwritten rules, John DeLorean over at Pontiac dropped a powerful 389 cubic inch V-8 into their mid-sized GTO and created the muscle car. The Chevelle took on that mantle for Chevy. That's one reason so many people have saved these cars and show them at old car events around the country. There were plenty on hand for the Headin' For the Hill show in North College Hill. Here are some that came out to show off that day.
