Preservation and Family Cars At the Dayton Concours

Two smaller classes at this year's Dayton Concours d'Elegance were the Preservation Class, those cars that have never been restored and All in the Family which is made up of those traditional family cars. The Preservation Class included a 1919 Buick Touring and a 1948 Packard Custom Convertible.

The All in the Family Class included a 1960 Chevrolet Corvette, a 1948 Dodge D 24 Custom, a 1964 Jaguar E Type, and a 1967 Pontiac GTO. Gee, I wish these were my family cars growing up.

Concept Cars That Didn't Make It To the Roads

I love concept cars. I recently had the opportunity to see the very first Chevy Camaro (it will show up on the blog in a few weeks). But while the Camaro made it to market, a large number of concept cars never get that chance. Here is an interesting list of 25 such concept cars. Give it a look and let me know which you would have liked to have seen on the roads. Leave me a comment or drop me an email at

Communist Era Cars

Generally when those of us in the States think of cars we tend to think of the metal that rolled out of Detroit or cool rides that came from Europe or the sporty compacts from Japan. Over the years, though, there were a lot of cars that were manufactured in Eastern Europe. Here is a link to a list of some of those cars. In reading through this it is obvious that the author was not a fan of these vehicles. I would suggest that if one or more of these cars catches your eye then you could do a little research and find out more about it. Had you heard of any of these before seeing the list? As always, feel free to leave me a comment or drop me an email at

Japanese Sports Cars At the Dayton Concours

The 11th Annual Dayton Concours d'Elegance had a special class to highlight the evolution of Japanese Sports Cars and it did so brilliantly. The class included a pair of 1972 Datsun 240 Z gems similar to the one owned by my uncle who one time threw me the keys and said, "You pay for any tickets you get," a 1992 Acura NSX, a 1974 Toyota Celica GT Coupe, a 1966 Honda S 600, a 1995 Toyota Supra, and a 2001 Honda S2000.

More American Collectors At the Dayton Concours

There was such a spectacular collection of American Collector cars at this year's 11th Annual Dayton Concours d'Elegance that I split them into two posts. Today's post includes a 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang, an unrestored 1965 Chevy Nova II that has been in the family since new, a one family 1964 Buick Riviera, an award winning 1971 Chevy Malibu, a 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 purchased from a family friend who had purchased it new, a 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback shown by the original owners, and a 1965 AMC Rambler Marlin.
