A Plesant Discovery

The Annual First Baptist Church of Glen Este Classic Car Show was one of those that I stumbled across almost out of desperation. Last year I remember looking for a show to attend on a date and didn't find any of my usual haunts. But as I skimmed through the Show and Shine Calendar (http://showandshinecalendar.com/) I saw this one listed and it wasn't even that far from my home. So I attended and discovered it was a great little show. The people behind it are nice, the judging is all in the hands of those folks admiring the cars, the setting is outstanding, and the grill cooks up some good burgers and dogs. What more can you want? That's why I came back this year for the eighth installment of this show.
Some of the cars on display in this post include a beautiful Cadillac, a 1960 Ford Falcon, a 1966 Nova, and a 1938 Buick 8.

Relaxing On the Lawn

The First Baptist Church of Glen Este has a very large parking lot but it also has a very large lawn in front of that lot. Wisely, for their annual classic car show, they forgo the lawn and have the show cars park on the grass. Being on the grass is so much nicer; it's cooler and more comfortable. That's one reason this show has gained a good reputation among the folks in the classic car community.
Some of the cars on display in this post are a 1949 Willys Jeep, a Ford Fairlane, a Mustang, a Buick Roadmaster, a Chevy 3100 pick up, and a nice Grand Prix.

8th Annual First Baptist Church of Glen Este Classic Car Show

For the eighth year in a row the First Baptist Church of Glen Este turned their pastoral surroundings into a great classic car show. Featuring all of the usuals such as music and food and, of course, lots of great cars, this show continues to be popular and draw a good variety of different types of vehicles.
Some of the cars in this post include a 1939 Chevrolet coupe, an early Chevy pick up, a Mercedes kit car, and a 1972 Mercury.

VW Porsche Reuinion

I just got back from spending some time at the VW Porsche Reunion and, as always, it was a great show. Lots of amazing cars, good food and probably over 200 vehicles on the lawn. This is just a little taste of what was there because I won't be getting to the actual show until December. So here are a couple of what everyone would expect and a few cars such as my friend Larry's Laser 917, a Sebring kit car, a Jaguar E Type and a very cool Porsche Spyder that just don't seem to fit into my planned posts.

End of the Week at Bethel Murdoch

Today is the end of the week and the end of the posts from the annual Bethel Murdoch Church Car Show and Ice Cream Social; at least for now. As is the case with a lot of the shows I've been posting, I'm doing about a week for each and then moving on. I'll be posting the rest of the pictures I took from this fun event later. In the mean time, feel free to leave a comment drop me a line at turnerbudds@yahoo.com. I try my best to answer every email I get. Have a great weekend.
Some of the cars on display in this post include a very nice early Corvette, a great looking Chevy 3100 pick up truck, a fantastic looking custom, as well as a Corvair and a 1957 Chevy Bel Air.

Old Faces, New Friends

Because I've been attending the annual Bethel Murdoch Church Car Show and Ice Cream Social for several years now, I've come to know a number of the people who are regulars as well. Plus, add to that the folks from the area who tend to show up to events where they don't have to travel very far and I tend to see some old faces in the crowd. But one cool thing about this show is that I regularly find myself talking with folks I have yet to meet, trading stories and admiring their cars. That's what's so fun about car shows.
Some of the cars in this post are a great looking Thunderbird, a couple Pontiac GTOs from different eras, a Ford Falcon, a Corvette, a 1969 Dodge Super Bee, and a slick looking Jeep "Woody."

Variety at Bethel Murdoch

Regular followers of this blog know that I love having a show with a good variety of cars. I like wandering around and seeing classics of different styles and marques and eras. While there are always a lot of Corvetters at the annual Bethel Murdoch Church Car Show and Ice Cream Social because the organizer is a member of the local Vette club, there are also a lot of other different models on display. Today's random (yes, this is the order in which I saw the cars) post is one good example of this.
Some of the cars from this post are a couple of 1957 Bel Airs, a Cobra kit car (not sure which version), a Chrysler, and an Impala.
