Chevy Brought Out the Camaro For the Pumpkin Run

When Chevrolet introduced their version of the pony car, the Camaro, one of the marketing people was asked about the name. His reply, according to legend was, that a Camaro was a creature that ate Mustangs. Whether that is true or not there were plenty of Camaros at this past year's Pumpkin Run Nationals.

The Pumpkin Run Had Plenty of Trucks On Hand

Last season's Pumpkin Run Nationals brought over 2500 cars and trucks to the Clermont County Fair Grounds. While we today associate a lot of pick ups with Ford in this case a large selection from Chevy were on hand, including some Apache pick ups, a Silvarado, and a couple of 3100 models. Also there was a 1970 GMC, and a 1966 Dodge carry all.

Plenty Of Customs Came To the Pumpkin Run Nationals

Seeing as though the Fastiques, the host club for the amazing annual Pumpkin Run Nationals, began as a custom car group, it's little wonder that this event always draws a large group of custom rides. This past season was no different as everything from high end show car quality customs, like this sweet Ford, to rat rods made their way to the weekend long show at the Clermont County Fair Grounds. Here are a few of these amazing creations.

A Lot Of Charity At the Pumpkin Run

There are always a lot of cool and often rarely seen vehicles at the Pumpkin Run Nationals such as this 1963 GMC. But the host organization, the Fastiques, don't spend all year putting together this show simply to draw in a couple thousand amazing vehicles. The real reason behind the annual event is to raise money for a number of charities. The largest of which is Shrine Children's Hospital which, over the years, the Fastiques have managed to raise and donate over $1 million. That's impressive, even more impressive than the over 2500 rides that rolled onto the Clermont County Fair Grounds this past season. Among that multitude of autos was a 1957 Rambler Super, a battle worn GMC truck, a gorgeous 1961 Studebaker Hawk, a Gran Tursimo Hawk, a De Soto sedan, and a Packard.

Chevy Made A Big Showing At the Pumpkin Run

Any open car show is going to bring out a lot of models from Chevrolet. No wonder since it was the largest selling automobile of the post War collector era. With over 2500 vehicles on the field of the Clermont County Fair Grounds, all from 1974 or earlier, the Pumpkin Run Nationals were sure to bring in a large number of cars wearing the "bow tie." And that they did. Among the Chevy cars on display was this Impala that barely made the age requirement. There was also an earlier Impala, an El Camino, another Impala, a couple Biscayne models, and a 1967 Impala.
