Back To the Bethel American Legion Car Show

Today I'm going back a few months to the 29th Annual Bethel American Legion Post 406 Car Show. This was a first visit to this show for me. Usually I get information about shows from the Show and Shine Calendar but this wasn't listed there, and from what I understand, never is. I managed to find out about it through a flyer being handed out at another show and am I glad I got that flyer. This show was amazing. Among the over 150 vehicles on display was a sumptuous yellow C3 Chevy Corvette, a Corvair convertible, a C-10 pick up, a fantastic 1954 Buick, a restomod Ford pick up, a 1951 modified Ford coupe, a Pontiac GTO, and an Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme.

Finishing Off the Parade

This was the first year I was able to drive up to Hamilton to see the Antique and Classic Car Parade. I was more than impressed at the quality and quantity of the vehicles that came out for the event's 67th outing. If you haven't been following the blog then it's worth it to go back not only over the past week or so but also to check out previous posts from this event. It's easy to see why I'll do my best to come back each year in the future. Among the vehicles on display was a beautiful Oldsmobile 442, a 1967 Plymouth Fury III, a Crosley Super, a 1924 Dodge Graham fire engine, a 1972 GM bus as well as a 1975 model, and a Willys Jeep that actually saw action. As always, feel free to leave a message or drop me an email at turnerbudds@yahoo.com.

Pre-War Gems In the Parade

I'm always amazed when I see very old cars at shows that are still puttering along. I'm getting old, though not as old as some of the cars, and I know how difficult it can be to get going so these cars all need our respect. The 67th Antique and Classic Car Parade had a large number of beautiful vehicles from before World War II. Among them was a 1930 Studebaker Erskine, a 1931 Buick Model 30 Sedan, a 1936 Ford Sedan, a 1941 Packard One Eighty, a 1923 Auburn 643 Touring Sedan, and a 1924 Ford TT truck.

Pontiac Went To the Parade

Regular followers of this blog probably know that I grew up in a Pontiac household. My dad was a staunch Pontiac man until he was able to afford a Cadillac. But being around Pontiacs all the time as a kid gives ma an appreciation for the marque and I love seeing them at shows. So I was pleased at the number on hand at the 67th Antique and Classic Car Parade. Among the ones on display was a Grand Ville convertible, a Fiero, a couple of different generations of Trans Am, a GTO, a 1966 Bonneville convertible, and a LeMans convertible.

There Were Imports In the Parade

The 67th Antique and Classic Car Parade in Hamilton brought out a vast assortment of vehicles, many coming from over seas. Many of the foreign cars weren't the typical ones you see at shows, either. Here is a 1987 Alfa Romeo spider. Also on display was a beautiful MGB, a DeLorean, a 1980 Triumph Spitfire 1500, and a Porsche 911. Model A Rolled Into the Parade

While there were plenty of post war Fords on display there was also a large group of pre war models as well, especially Model A.

There Were Vettes In the Parade

The 67th Antique and Classic Car Parade wouldn't have been complete without a strong contingent of Chevy Corvettes. Most of the examples in the parade were from the first three generations like this gorgeous C2 and C1 examples. Which is your favorite Vette?
