Armco Park Played Host To the ACE Car Show

Covering 311 acres with a 100 acre lake, tennis and pickleball courts, softball fields, basketball courts, volleyball courts, and a full 18 hole gold course, as well as a disc gold course, Armco Park is one of the main destinations for outdoor loving people in Warren County. It also plays host to the ACE Car Show each year, allowing cars to rest on the tree lined grass field. Among the cars at this edition of the show was a beautiful 1962 Chrysler 300, a Chevy Nova, a Cadillac, a Buick Riviera, a 1968 Corvair, and a 1972 Chevelle.

Tri-5 Chevys Were Aces At the ACE Show

 It's a rare open car show indeed that does not attract a Tri-5 Chevy Bel Air or two. Introduced in 1950 and named after the posh Los Angeles suburb, the Bel Air was the full size offering from Chevrolet. It was the second generation, though, introduced in 1955, that is the most recognizable among car hobbyists. Those models from 1955 through 1957 are often lovingly called the Tri-5 cars. There were a number of these gems on hand for the ACE Car Show. Here are some of them. Oh, and there is one first generation 1954 model.

There Was Some Nice Variety At the Cruise-A-Palooza Car Show

Every car enthusiast has their own favorite makes and models. Some are much more popular than others and can be seen at just about every open show. For me, though, it's the shows that bring together a little bit of everything. That's what makes Cruise-A-Palooza so cool. It eagerly mixes what you would expect to see with some cars you don't normally get a chance to enjoy. For example, here is a 1961 Nash Metropolitan, a Lotus Elise, a Plymouth Duster, a 1970 Dodge Challenger, a Chevy Camaro Super Sport, a Chevelle, and a 1966 Ford Mustang.

                                         

The ACE Car Club Knows How to Put On a Show

 Back in the late 1970s a group of employees at Armco Steel all realized that they had a similar interest in the old car hobby. With that in mind they formed the Armco Car Enthusiasts in 1979. The group is now known as the ACE car club. At first their show was just for folks who worked at Armco but it soon opened up to include anyone with an interest in old and vintage vehicles. The show is traditionally one of the better attended events in the region, pulling in a very good variety of vehicles. For example, here is a beautiful 1949 Cadillac convertible. Also on display were a Pontiac Fiero, a Chevy El Camino, a Chevelle Super Sport, a 1965 Malibu, and a 1966 C-10 pick up truck.

The ACE Show

Since 1979 the ACE car club has been sponsoring their annual show at Armco Park in Warren County. The is traditionally a large draw and pulls in a large variety of vehicles from all across the region. For example, how many shows have an actual retired Checker taxi cab on hand? This one did. Also on display were a custom Chevy S-10 pick up truck, a MGB, a 1970Pontiac Firebird, a Camaro, and a work in progress Oldsmobile.

Wine and Wheels Also Had Food

The Fifth Annual Wine and Wheels show wasn't limited to those two exquisite things. They also had a nice selection of food including ribs, burgers, chicken, and wood baked pizza. We went for the pizza which was absolutely delicious. Today we'll wrap up the coverage of this show with a bunch of pictures of two amazing cars, a Mercedes Benz 190 SL and a Ford Thunderbird.
