Corvettes At the Pumpkin Run Nationals.

 The Chevrolet Corvette is often times referred to as America's sports car. Created by Chevy to try to offset the number of European sports cars that were hitting American shores following World War II, the first generation didn't really live up to expectations until its third year. Now in its eighth generation, the Vette has been an automotive trendsetter throughout it's life. The 46th Pumpkin Run Nationals saw plenty of these magnificent cars but since entries are limited by age only examples of the first three generations were allowed on the field. Here are several, led off by this beautiful 1960 model.

Trucks Rolled Out For the Pumpkin Run

The 46th Annual Pumpkin Run Nationals saw a large number of trucks and pre sport utility vehicles and even a school bus on display. Among them was a 1963 GMC Suburban. There were also other vehicles by GMC, Chevrolet, and Dodge.

Camaro Came To the Pumpkin Run

 With the size and stature of the 46th Annual Pumpkin Run Nationals, it's little surprise that a large selection of Chevy Camaro models were on hand. Here are some that showed up for the event at the Clermont County Fair Grounds.

Fords At the Pumpkin Run

 A large number of Ford products made their way to the 46th Annual Pumpkin Run Nationals. Among them was a Ford Fairlane, a 1917 Model T, a 1964 Mercury Meteor, a somewhat modified Mercury sedan convertible, a 1932 Model A, and a Cyclone.

MoPar Made It To the Pumpkin Run

The 46th Annual Pumpkin Run Nationals saw a large turn out of cars from Chrysler Corporation, most being MoPar muscle. Among the cars on display was a 1971 Plymouth Road Runner, a couple
 Dodge Chargers, a Chrysler 300, a 1950 Dodge Wayfarer, and a Coronet 500 station wagon.

Pumpkin Run Pontiacs

When General Motors stopped making Pontiacs at the end of 2009 it saddened a lot of people. Pontiac had been a popular, trend setting, and, yes, rule breaking line for GM. It started as a "little brother" to the Oakland line in 1926 but outpaced its parent causing GM to cease production on the Oakland in 1931. Pontiac fell into the niche between the entry level Chevy and the mid-level Oldsmobile. And it sold well. The mid-1950s saw a major change in the cars. Name changes occurred as well as some major revmped styling. The 1960s saw the biggest radical steps as Pontiac became the true performance line for GM, topped by the GTO (seen above), which stands for Gran Torismo Omolgato or Grand Touring Homologation. Their version of the Pony Car, the Firebird, was introduced during this decade as well. Unfortunately, as the muscle car era began to grind down in the 1970s so, too did Pontiac's sales begin to slow. By 2008 GM announced that they would stop making Pontiac automobiles. It was a financial decision, they claimed. And unfortunately the world lost another fine auto line. But many were on hand for the 46th Annual Pumpkin Run Nationals including the above mentioned GTO, a 1967 Tempest, a couple more GTOs, a Grand Prix, and a Catalina.

Race Cars Sped To the Pumpkin Run

An automotive event as large as the 46th Annual Pumpkin Run Nationals sponsored by the Fastiques and held at the Clermont County Fair Grounds is apt to draw all kinds of vehicles, including a number of racers. Here are some of the race cars that were on display including on of famed car designer/builder Dan Shaw's beauties.
