Vettes Came To Help Fight ALS

When American service members returned following time in Europe for World War II, they had seen and been bitten by the sports car bug. Many began importing the British and Italian sports cars they had seen while across the Atlantic. Seeing this, General Motors jumped at the chance to compete and in 1953 introduced a two seat sports car they called a Corvette. The early first generation or C1 cars featured a 235 cubic inch inline six cylinder engine that cranked out 150 horse power. By 1955, though, thinking the car was a bit under powered, Chevy fit a 265 cubic inch V8 into the Vette. Now in its eighth generation, there were plenty of these sports cars from various eras that took part in the 8th Annual Cruisin' To A Cure For ALS show that filled more than a dozen blocks in downtown Lawrenceburg with over 1000 great automobiles. Here are just a few of the many Corvettes that were on hand.
