Customs and Rods Helped Fill the Streets of Lawrenceburg

For almost as long as there have been automobiles people have been making changes to them. Initially the modifications were to either make the car faster for racing or to make it more durable for going off road (the latter is something Henry Ford was quite fond of). When GIs returned to America following World War II they brought with them the knowledge they learned in fixing and modifying Jeeps and other military vehicles. Some of the earliest modifications were called "gow jobs" and these soon became the basis for a burgeoning hot rod movement that started in Southern California. Today there are all sorts of custom and modified vehicles that can be found at various car events. The 8th Annual Cruisin' To A Cure For ALS show in Lawrenceburg was no exception. Here are a few of the customs that were part of this show.
