A Vicious Creature Came To Lawrenceburg

April 1, 1964 marked the beginning of what is known as the Pony Car. On that date Plymouth launched the Barracuda. But it was two weeks later when Ford introduced the Mustang that the world sat up and noticed. These sporty, affordable cars featured a long nose and a short deck and became some of the most popular vehicles of their time with Ford leading the way. General Motors was thrown completely off guard and needed to scramble to come up with something of their own. It took them a little over two years to do so and in September of 1966 they introduced the Camaro. When asked what a Camaro is, legend has it, a Chevrolet public relations representative supposedly said that it was a "vicious creature that eats mustangs." It didn't necessarily eat the Mustang but it has sold well now for six generations. With so many out there it's little wonder that a fair number showed up in Lawrenceburg for the Eighth Annual Cruisin' To A Cure For ALS car show. Here are some that were on hand.
