Some Of the Worst Cars Ever Made

I found one of those click bait traps online proclaiming some of the worst cars ever made. I had to see which ones were included. Interestingly, I have driven about 10 or so of these cars and while none were outstanding, some weren't as bad as claimed. For example, I had two friends who owned Vegas and neither had any problems. One friend even drove back and forth from Ohio to North Carolina to attend college for years with only general maintenance. Of course, he nearly had to get out and push the car up the mountains but he always made it. Regular readers of this blog probably know that the first car I drove was a 1955 Chevy Bel Air. It's one of the most iconic collector cars in the country. Yes it was a pretty basic design but then so was just about everything else coming out of WW II. As for the Maserati Biturbo, nothing released at that time would have been a hit for the Italian auto maker. Still, the Biturbo was a fun car to drive and was better than a number of others in its class at the time.

So take a look at this list and let me know what you think. Either leave a comment (no ads, please) or drop me an email at turnerbudds@yahoo.com.

The History Of Coney Island (Ohio) Part 2

By 1887 Ohio Grove, the Coney Island Of the West had become such a popular destination that riverboats were making regular runs from downtown Cincinnati to the grove. People came to enjoy the dance hall, the dining hall and even the bowling alley. But they also came just to enjoy the serene tree lined grassy field east of downtown. The name was shortened to just Coney Island. By 1925 the park was expanding and added what is the 12th largest outdoor swimming pool in the world. Called Sunlight Pool it is the largest recirculating pool in North America. Today Sunlight Pool remains though the Coney Island park has changed a lot. These days, among other things, it is the host of Cruise-A-Palooza, one of the region's more popular car events. Among the vehicles that show up is a Pontiac GTO, a Jeep Marauder, a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, a custom street machine, a 1969 Shelby Cobra, a Chevy Impala, a Pontiac Fiero, and a 1933 Chevy Sport Coupe.

A Car Show At Historic Coney Island

The lesser of the famous Coney Islands, trailing the one in New York and perhaps even the one in Wisconsin, is a patch of land east of Cincinnati on the Ohio River. It began as an apple orchard in 1967 but its setting was popular for people to want to picnic. So the owner stopped growing apples and instead began renting out the space. Eventually there were regular paddle wheeler routes between the city and what was known as Parker's Grove. Soon the space had a dining hall, a dance hall and even a bowling alley. The land was sold in 1886 and the name was changed to Ohio Grove, the Coney Island of the West.

These days it is quite different (and I will continue to recount the history in upcoming posts) and hosts one of the regions more popular car shows. Cruise-A-Palooza brings in over 100 great vehicles like this 1955 Mercury Montclair, a 1967 Chevy Camaro Rally Sport, a 1967 Dodge Challenger R/T, a pair of "bug eye" MG Sprites, a Ford Mustang convertible, a tricked out street rod, a Galaxie 500, and a 1956 Ford station wagon.

Cruise-A-Palooza Time

Cruise-A-Palooza is a long running and popular show held on the banks of the Ohio River in a park called Coney Island. It's teaser time, follow along the next few days and I'll be writing more about this historic location. But for now, here are some of the cars that were at the event, including a 1929 Mercedes Benz, a 1959 Edsel Villager station wagon, a 1969 Plymouth Satellite, a Ford LTD, a 1981 Jeep CJ-7, a Chevy Camaro, and a Dodge Challenger.

Wrapping Up In Blue Ash

Today I'll be wrapping up the photos from the Annual City of Blue Ash and The Untouchables Classic Car Club Classic Car Show. If you haven't been following the past week why don't you go back and check out all of the cool cars as well as what various amenities that were offered. Together those should be enough to make you want to mark next year's show on the calendar. If you do show up this coming summer you'll most likely see cars such as this Buick Regal, as well as a Chevy Camaro, a first generation Bel Air, a second generation Tri-5 Bel Air, an Impala, and three custom 1930s Fords.

Music, Food, Fun, and Cars In Blue Ash

Combine some good food, great music and fantastic old cars and anyone interested in the old car hobby is bound to have fun. The Annual City of Blue Ash and The Untouchables Classic Car Club Classic Car Show is always just that, fun. There are hot dogs and hamburgers for free (donations accepted) along with very tasty homemade sweets. The sound track for the event is a mixture of DJ and live karaoke style singing of fantastic 1960s and 1970s R&B and soul classics. Then on top of that you have some spectacular cars such as this first generation 1953 Chevy Bel Air. Yes, when most people think of the Bel Air they think of one of the Tri-5 models which was the second generation introduced in 1955. But this rarity was an absolute gem. Also on display was a Monte Carlo, an almost military looking custom, a Camaro, a Ford Mustang, a 1949 Ford Tudor sedan, and a 1966 Mustang.

Different and Unique Vehicles Are Drawn To Blue Ash

The City of Blue Ash and The Untouchables Classic Car Club Classic Car Show has developed a well earned reputation for drawing in a nice, varied assortment of vehicles. Sure, like any open car event this one always pulls in the usual suspects but also a nice array of things you don't normally see. For example, here is a 1969 Mercury Cyclone, a 1981 Jeep CJ, a war era Chevy sedan, a Dodge GT Sport, a 1970 Pontiac LeMans, and an actual retired military vehicle.
