True car crazy people appreciate anything auto related. And the marvelous American Sign Museum in Cincinnati, OH has a fairly substantial collection of just such signs. The above is one of the more historic pieces. It is an actual sign from an Earl Scheib paint and body shop in Compton, CA. Earl Sheib was famous for offering low cost paint and body repair work. Started in California in 1937 it eventually spread to 23 states and even parts of Europe. The sign here stood over the interstate and, if you look closely, you can see an actual bullet hole that was never repaired. There are a lot of fascinating signs in the museum.
