For many years the storied river town of Newport, KY held a huge old car event that closed down it's main street, Monmouth, for over eight blocks. Called Rides On Monmouth, the event would draw hundreds of cars and trucks. Then came Covid. Like a lot of shows the Covid year saw no show in Newport. Then the person who had been overseeing it, the Chief of Police, retired. But the show was re-born in 2021 and named Wheels Back On Monmouth. This year's event had to be re-scheduled because of torrential rains. Then when the re-scheduled date came the weather once again threatened to dump moisture on the show. But despite that over 150 cars and trucks came to Newport to raise money for numerous charities that the local police force supports. Among the cars in attendance was a Chevrolet Corvette, a Dodge Challenger, a Pontiac Firebird, a Ford Mustang, an Oldsmobile 442, a Chrysler Newport, and a Ford Mustang.
