A Perfect Day In Newport

This year's Rides on Monmouth was held on a near perfect August day. The sky was clear. Yes it was warm but not too muggy to be uncomfortable. And that helped bring out about 250 great cars that were on display. Included in that group was a Ford Falcon, a 1957 Cadillac Coupe de Ville convertible, a street rod, an Impala convertible, a Chevy Nova SS, a Pontiac Ventura, and a 1969 Nova.

Rides On Monmouth Rides Along

The Rides on Monmouth show in Newport always fills the city's streets with great old cars and even a few new ones. Today's post highlights that with a beautiful Ford Fairlane convertible, a 1972 Chevelle SS, a Chevy Impala, a not quite stock Jeep, a Cadillac limo, a Monte Carlo SS, a Cobra kit car, and a Plymouth Road Runner.

Rides On Monmouth

I'm finally getting around to posting shots from one of my favorite shows each year, the Rides on Monmouth. This year about 250 cars showed up on a beautiful August day. If you aren't a regular follower I would suggest searching through old posts about this show and the small town of Newport where it's held. The city has quite a history and the old cars add to it every year.

This year's eclectic collection included a Chevelle, an AMX, a Lamborghini, a 1965 Lincoln Continental convertible, a pre-war Pontiac, a Pontiac Bonneville convertible, a newer Chevy, and a 1963 Galaxie 500.

Wrapping Up the Week in Norwood

Norwood: Where Legends Were Born (https://www.norwoodlegends.com/) is a documentary currently in post-production that will tell the story of the famed General Motors Norwood Assembly Plant where the majority of all Camaros and Firebirds/Trans Ams were built. The show brought out a lot of amazing cars including some Chevy trucks, some excellent Firebirds, an Impala, and a slick 1957 Bel Air.

A Show to Finance a Film

The car show to benefit the production of the documentary film Norwood: Where Legends Were Born (https://www.norwoodlegends.com/) was a surprise success. Put together at the last minute by the filmmakers (full disclosure here, I'm friends with most of those guys) the show was a huge success. There were actually more cars in the lot than expected and there had to be some spillover. The show brought out a bunch of beautiful Camaros including the very first Camaro ever made. That's right, the car at the top was the first Camaro to roll off the line. A couple of Pontiac F Body cars, those beautiful Trans Ams, also showed up for the celebration.
