Snook’s
Dream Cars of Bowling Green, OH has vehicles that have been around for over 80
years. When Bill Snook and his son Jeff started collecting cars, Bill went back
to his younger years before serving in the Army in WW II and brought in three
early 1940s models. Add to this on post war gem and he completed this decade’s
set with a Packard, a Chevy, a Pontiac and a Plymouth.
The
oldest car is a 1940 Packard Super Eight. Introduced in 1939 the Super Eight
was the larger of the two straight eight cylinder luxury cars produced by
Packard. Produced through 1951, this line was one of the more popular for
Packard.
A 1941 Chevrolet AK-3104 half ton pick-up truck is also part of the collection. In 2003 this truck saw a complete body off restoration. It still sports the 216 cubic inch 90 horse power inline six engine that was standard on these vehicles.
Also from 1941 is a Pontiac Streamliner Torpedo Eight. Restored in 1993, this two door fastback featured a “three on the tree” shifter and was powered by a 249 cubic inch 103 horse power straight eight.
The last of the 1940s cars is a 1946 Plymouth P 15C Special Deluxe Woody station wagon. This was actually only the 37th wagon produced in this model year and underwent a restoration in the early 1990s. Its 216 cubic inch inline six cylinder engine produces 95 horse power.
That
is it for the pre and post WW II era cars at Snook’s Dream Cars. Tomorrow we
will be looking at the American cars from the 1950s and 1960s. In the meantime,
