When Ford introduced the Mustang in April, 1965 it sent shock waves through Detroit and beyond. This sporty little car aimed at a younger audience sold in astronomical numbers. While the Mustang wasn't technically the first "pony" car to hit the market, indeed, Plymouth had introduced the Barracuda a full 16 days prior to Ford's release, it was undeniably the car to beat. At the time General Motors didn't have anything to compete and they scrambled to come up with a car to take on Ford's charging steed. In September, 1966 they introduced the Camaro. Legend has it that a marketing rep was asked by a member of the automotive press what a Camaro was and he replied, "a vicious creature that eats Mustangs." While the Camaro (and its sister the Pontiac Firebird) didn't exactly eat the Mustang it did compete well. The 18th Annual City of Blue Ash and the Untouchables Classic Car Show saw a nice selection of Camaros roll into Chamberlain Park. Here are some of them.
