If you're traveling south of Louisville, KY on I-65, you might want to turn off at Elizabethtown and check out a gem of a museum called Swope's Cars of Yesteryear. The museum is the result of a collection amassed by Bill and Marilyn Swope over the years. After serving in World War II, Bill got his college degree from Miami University in Oxford, OH. After graduation he began working for a building materials company but decided his true calling was in automobiles, so he moved to Kentucky and opened his first car dealership. He thrived and now owns a number of dealerships in Elizabethtown. And that's where you will find his collection, open to the public and free for anyone who wants to stop in and take a look. It's well worth it. Over the next six days I'll be posting photos of the cars on display in the order in which I came across them. Starting off is a 1936 Rolls Royce Phantom III Saloon Carriage with coach work by H.J. Mulliner, a 1957 Chevy Bel Air, a 1920 Nash Six Touring, a Dodge Royal Lancer, a Chrysler New Yorker Deluxe, a 1953 Jaguar XK120, and a 1935 Pierce Arrow.
