Wrapping Up the Cavalcade of Customs

There were over 200 cars on display at this year's 55th Annual KOI Cavalcade of Customs and over the past two weeks I've posted shots of almost half. This is always a great event and something I really enjoy. Besides, it gives us car junkies something to do in the middle of January. I hope you enjoyed the pictures.

Fun for All Ages

As I mentioned yesterday, KOI Auto Parts holds their annual Training Expo as part of the Cavalcade of Customs. In addition to that and all of the great cars, there are various events and special guests designed to bring out the entire family. Here is a list of what happened during this year's Cavalcade: http://www.koiautoparts.com/cavalcade/features.html. That's all well and good but as for Josh and myself, our focus was on the cars.

KOI Auto Parts

KOI Auto Parts is the official sponsor of the Annual Cavalcade of Customs. They're a logical choice. This regional auto parts store began in 1946 as a family owned and operated service station. In 1953
they obtained a local auto parts store and the rest is, as they say, history. Now with stores throughout the region, KOI is not only the official sponsor of the Cavalcade, where, in conjunction with the show, they hold their annual Training Expo, but they are also the official auto parts store for the Cincinnati Reds and the Kentucky Speedway.

History With the Cavalcade of Customs

I have a fairly extensive personal history with the Annual KOI Cavalcade of Customs. Shoot, the event, not in its 55th year, is damn near as old as I am. I don't remember exactly how old I was when my uncle took my brother and me to our first show but we were both blown away. He took us for a few years in a row and then we didn't go again for a few years until one of the older kids in the neighborhood drove a few of us down. Then it was my brother's turn to start driving us. A couple of years later, when I got my license I started driving. I missed it during my college years and when I was working in other cities. But then about 13-14 years ago I started bringing my son, Josh and we've made an annual tradition of it.

Week Two of the Cavalcade of Customs

Today we start week two of my posts from the recent 55th Annual KOI Cavalcade of Customs. Hopefully if you are not familiar with this event you are getting a sense of how large it is and at the wide variety of cars that were on display. It's always like this and that helps make it a nice reprieve from the January cold.
