Over 30,000 visit the Studebaker National Museum (http://www.studebakermuseum.org/) each year. They are drawn not only by the history of this once leading car company but also by the chance to see some of these historic vehicles on display. What they all find on their first visit is that in addition to the cars there are amazingly informative displays that take you through the complete history of Studebaker.
At any given time there are about 70 cars on display, including the 1937 Coupe Express seen at the top of today's blog and a 1940 Champion Coupe seen above. Each car has a placard which tells about it. In addition, there are displays all over the museum ranging from pictures and newspaper clippings to statues and other adornments which help tell the whole story.
Other cars on display during my trip included a 1940 President Club Sedan, a 1950 Commander Starlight Coupe, a 1953 Champion Starliner Hardtop, a 1952 Commander Starliner, a one-of-a-kind 1956 Packard Predictor, a 1958 Packard Hawk, a land speed record 1963 Avanti (over 170 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats), and a beautiful 1957 Golden Hawk 400.
