Camaros Rolled Into Fernbank Park

The 33rd Annual Rollin' On the River Car Show at Fernbank Park along the banks of the Ohio River saw in excess of 500 fantastic vehicles on display of all makes and models. With this many it is of little surprise that a good selection of Chevrolet Camaros were on hand. With the success of the Ford Mustang, General Motors knew they had to enter what was being called the pony car market. They did it two fold with the Chevy Camaro and the Pontiac Firebird. The Camaro, being from the popular Chevy line, was the most notable. Introduced for the 1967 model year, legend has it that a Chevy official, when asked what a Camaro was, supposedly replied that, "It's a vicious creature that eats Mustangs." The Camaro went through four generations until retired in 2002 but was brought back in 2009. Many of the early Camaros were built at the Norwood GM Plant which was about 21 miles from where the show was held.
