Vettes Were Leading the Way to Rollin' On the River

It has become a tradition at the Rollin' On the River show in Fernbank Park, situated on the Ohio River in Saylor Park, for Chevy Corvettes to have a large group at the entrance to the show. The 33rd Annual event, sponsored by the Delhi Kawanis, was no different. General Motors introduced the Vette in 1953 through it's Chevrolet "budget" line as competition from the growing number of European sports cars that were flooding the country. The early models were riddled with problems but by 1955 with the introduction of a new 265 cubic inch V8 engine replacing the original 235 cube second generation Blue Flame inline six, the car started to live up to its potential. Now in its eighth generation, the Corvette has become synonymous with American sports cars.
