There Was a Foreign Invasion At Rollin' On the River

When an open show brings in more than 500 different vehicles the odds are pretty good that there will be some foreign cars on hand. That was surely the case for the 33rd Annual Rollin' On the River Car Show sponsored by the Delhi Kiwanas. Held at beautiful, and thankfully mostly shaded Fernbank Park on a hot, sticky July day, one of the imports on display was a 1969 Fiat 124 Sport Spider. The 124 Spider (Spider being a designation for a convertible) was first introduced in 1966. It was designed and manufactured by famed Italian firm Pininfarina which has been closely associated with Ferrari over the years. In fact, Fiat stopped selling the car under their name in 1982 but Pininfarina continued to sell it in North America under their own brand for three more years. Other imports in the park for this show included a BMW 633 CS, a Datsun 240Z, a Honda, a 1978 Mercedes-Benz 280SL, a Sunbeam Tiger, and a Triumph TR 6.
