2011 Concourse d'Elegance Part 1

The weather was perfect and the cars all gleamed in the clear sunlight as throngs of people made their way through Ault Park on Sunday enjoying the 34th Annual Concourse d’Elegance. The Cincinnati Concourse, held to benefit the Arthritis Foundation, is one of the biggest draws in the country, both in terms of crowds and for car owners.
Set in beautiful Ault Park, the cars mingle with nature in a contest to see which is more stunning. With hundreds of volunteers working months to pull of this massive event, it is little wonder that one of the car owners told me that this was the best place he has ever shown his cars. He pointed out the setting, the wonderful people behind the Concourse, and the appreciative crowds.
Josh and I spent much of the day wandering through the 13 car classes, seven featured marque classes and three special displays. Hundreds of classic works of automotive art lined the park grounds and for us, it was difficult to choose where to start and where to linger.
Over the course of nearly six hours we met and chatted with a number of owners who were proudly displaying their vehicles. Over the next couple of weeks I’ll be posting a number of stories to the blog about these folks and their machines as well as posting pictures from some of the various classes. I’ll be lumping some of the classes together or else this would take the better part of a month to complete and there are more shows to cover and more cars to and owners to write about.
To get things started here are some various cars from throughout the show, including a replica Bat Mobile, complete with real working turbine engine.

Also here are some examples from the “Wagons Ho!” Family Stations Wagons Celebrating the 85th Anniversary of Route 66 display, of which there will be more to follow, as well as some examples of the Racing Class and a couple of sports cars.

More to come. As always, feel free to leave a note telling us about your favorite cars in a blog or, if you have a car you're working on or showing, let us know at turnerbudds@yahoo.com.
