Kustoms of America Rods and Customs Nationals

On a rainy Saturday in June, Easy Street Rides and Rods in Milford, OH hosted the Kustoms of America Rod and Custom Nationals. What should have been a showcase for custom cars and street rods from around the region was hindered by sprinkles, gray threatening skies and a forecast for all day rain.

While the forecast didn’t hold true, the threat was enough to scare away most of the potential car owners and visitors. This was a shame because those who did show up to put their cars on display gave the few folks walking around some nice rides to check out.

For those who don’t know, KoA is the oldest custom car club in the world, formed nearly 60 years ago as the Kustom Car Club by the legendary George Barris while he was still in high school. Don’t know who George Barris is? Well if you’ve seen any of these television shows then you’ve seen some of his most famous creations: Batman, The Monkees, The Beverly Hillbillies, The Munsters, Knight Rider, The Dukes of Hazard just to name a few.

Kustoms of America was started in California but spread as quickly as America’s love of custom cars and street rods. If you’d like more information you can check them out at http://www.kustomsofamerica.net/.

Easy Street Rides and Rods is less than two years old but has established itself as a top flight custom shop and is indeed the lifelong dream of owner Tim Odham. You can check them out at http://easystreetrnr.com/.

Also check out a few of the customs that were on display at the KoA event and keep your eyes open for events in your neck of the woods. As always, let us know which cars you like best and feel free to leave a comment here or email us at turnerbudds@yahoo.com.

  2. Thanks. Just makes you wonder who all would have shown up had the weather held.
